A Cat's Life!

Today, I have a guest on the blog!! I hope you'll find him entertaining like I do...

******************************************************

Hi all,

I am Mozzichino - the Cat.

I am writing here because I want to voice my disappointment about those 2 awful humans I live with!

Hi!

Firstly, they keep sleeping in MY bedroom and I am forced to rest on their feet!!Can you believe that? I try to make them leave, but apparently scratching my nails on the mattress isn't bothering enough and  I am now contemplating a new plan of attack - I will let you know if it works.

This is me threatening Mum - while she takes a picture of me!

Now, let's start describing who I have the unfortunate pleasure to live with:

My mum Daniela
This is what I have to endure every day...
She is delusional... after 4 years together she still pretends to pat me and kiss me and...she wants me to even like it!

The other day I heard her telling a story about " how Moz has missed me so much, she was following me around looking for some love"..You know the truth, right? She was going tothe kitchen and I wanted her to feed me with some ham  I don't know where she saw the "Love" she is talking about..

My dad, Stefano, is ok..I think we understand each other well.

We are mates

Sometimes he is a bit too touchy and kissy but he's the one who shares his food with me so I forgive him ( unlike that witch who never shares her food..).

Unfortunately, there is one thing dad still doesn't get: He has to stop brushing me! It always ends in a fight and I don't understand why he wants to brush me after I clearly told him not to - biting and scratching and screaming at him..one would think this is enough, but apparently the guy has some problems..

Finally, we reach a sore point...the worst thing which has ever happened to me has a name..: Canito..

GO AWAY!

What were they thinking about when they brought this smelly, licking donkey in MY house??

Stupid face

Don't get me wrong I love him very much (if you say it out loud I will deny it - and then will bite off one of your legs) but he is loud, hyper, he's stupid, always licking and, if this is not enough , he wants MY food! How dare they give him my precious and delicious ham!?!? This house is a mess!

Now, you know my story and here is my plead:

Please help me to get rid of those 3 clowns so that I can finally live peacefully and happily as I deserve!

Moz

********************************************************

....That little arrogant! He really thinks he is the king of the house!
What an ungrateful cat! I hope yours (if you have any) is not so presumptuous like mine ;)

Until next time,
Daniela

Food to Crave for: Easy & Quick Zucchini and Ham pie + Blog Hop!

What do you do when your partner/husband/boyfriend has left the zucchini you prepared for lunch and you don't want to waste food?  [and beating them with a rolling pin is not an option??]

I'll tell you what I did: a super quick Zucchini Pie!

You need:

Zucchini
Mozzarella cheese (or any other cheese you like)
Parmesan Cheese
Cooked Ham
1 egg
already made pizza dough
 salt, pepper & olive oil

Proceedings

1. Spread the pizza dough on a tray ( I always add oven foils as well) and pour some olive oil on top.

2. Add the zucchini and salt/pepper:

 3. Now spread mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the zucchini:

4. Cover everything with cooked ham:

5. Spread with your finger the beaten egg on the pie and make sure to close the pizza's angles ( or the cheese will come out!) like this:

And this is ready for the oven! (180C/356F for 25 minutes).

One more thing:

Be aware of unexpected attacks coming from hidden places....

me..ham..now
Enjoy your zucchini pie!

Until next time,
Daniela

Organized places, Organized mind: Weekly Meal plan

I have set up a nice and coloured weekly meal plan for my home. My personal opinion is that every home should have a meal plan for 3 reasons:

1. It saves a lot of time thinking about the meal you want to prepare;
2. It saves money, since you plan your shopping ahead and you can make sure there is no waste;
3. It can be healthy! Since you know what to cook and what to eat, you will not be tempted by eating/cooking something you shouldn't! ;)

I use a food list where I have listed a selection of meals I can distribute during the week:

I would like to share 2 tips we have been given by our nutricionist:

*max 2 eggs per week
**max 2 times x pasta/arroz/patatas per week

When I plan the meals, I leave Sunday "free" where I can cook whatever inspires me ;)

Yes, it's written in 3 languages......

If you like what you see you can download the free templates:

5 Pretty Elements: Flip Flop BBQ

Few days ago I wrote about a BBQ we have organized with some of our friends! I named it Flip Flop BBQ because I asked my friends to show up in flip flop since we had to stay outdoors.

We have a nice BBQ in the garden and wanted to use it asap :)

BBQ station is ready to work!

We prepared the BBQ station for Antonio (Thank You Antonio for not complaining about the task we assigned you ;) ) and a buffet for my calzoncini, salads and tea/beers.

5 things I loved about the BBQ

1. Quality time with Friends

It's nice to spend some quality time with friends especially during a nice and warm day! Sometimes you feel like you don't have time to stop and relax a bit, but when you really stop..you surely don't regret it.

And during Summer time.. relax is assured!

2. Food

Yes.. food too! The classic sausages, hamburgers, brochette but especially the collaboration between friends in preparing something to share.

I had organized a table for my calzoncini, salads and bread (Thank you Sunneva and Kasia for the amazing salads):

We also had a mini fridge for the beers ;)

3. Nice weather

We were blessed with a nice Sunday afternoon! I actually had to take the sunscreen out..

He needed sunscreen too:

4. The garden

As I previously said, we love the garden ;) and I wanted to share with you 2 picture I have taken during the BBQ:

Nice, aren´t they? I thought I had lost my roses until I realized that something new was opening up :)

5. Canito's friends

Canito got to spend some quality time as well with Raki and Amos.

This is how they spent their afternoon:

... They also played a lot ;)

Striped shirt ReFash

Today I decided to "refash" an old striped shirt. I really like it but it is a bit too long and that's why I wasn't wearing it as much as I wanted!

I have cut the edges and sew a seam down the lenght of the edges:

sorry..didn't take any better picture :/
In order to give a ruffled look, I grabbed one of the loose threads and pulled gently :) :

I started sewing the fabric to the shirt, making circles and forming a flower. This is how the flower looked like:

This is the completed shirt:

Pose apart, here you have a closer look:
Can you guess where I took the inspiration for this shirt? Small Hint: a famous girl from New York ;)

Food to Crave for: Calzoncini with Tomato, Mozzarella and Ham

Last week-end we enjoyed a nice BBQ and I prepared some calzoncini with mozzarella, tomato and ham (because meat and salad wasn't enough! uhm...).

I called them calzoncini because I couldn't find any other name... the ingredients are the same but they are smaller and I gave them a round shape :)

What you need:
- Already made pizza dough (sorry didn't have time to prepare it myself....next time..)
- Tomato sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Ham
- Salt
- 1 egg

I have used a glass in order to cut out the circles I wanted:

Fill everything with the above listed ingredients:

Make sure you press well the edges so the mozzarella won't get out while cooking:

Use your finger to dab the egg wash on the calzonici and bake everything at 350F/180C until the calzoncini are golden.

Enjoy :)

I will post more pictures about the BBQ veeeery soon ;)

What's in your Garden? Wood Panel Decor

One of the things we love about our house is the garden ;)

Few months ago we had to install 2 wood panels on our fence:

Do you wonder why? Well.. Canito, our dog, decided it was very funny to bite and destroy the plastic cover of the fence.

Wanna see a proof? there:
Thank you Canito..
Anyway, I didn't like those panels so much so I decided to make a Garden decoration out of them ;)

I painted both of them in green:

A tip for you: do not make any painting, crafting, etc under the sun.. I was boiling so much I didn't think I could make it till the end!!

Once the paint was dry I started decorating the panel with a golden phrase ;)

Now, if anybody tells you that this is very easy although it's the first time you do it.. don't believe them! ;)

At first, it was easy..until this happened:
meh :/

Not nice!!! Luckily I still had some colour left and managed to correct the mistakes :)

This is how my fence looks like now:

My three boys enjoying the sun and the garden ;)

Do you like the outcome? The sentence I wrote is my homage to our nice garden that Stefano defines "our piece of paradise" : "If you would have a mind at peace, a heart that can-not harden, go find a door that opens wide upon a lovely garden".

I hope I have inspired you a little!

Daniela

Food to Crave for: Mini Aubergine Pizzas ;)

My favourite vegetable is Aubergine and I like to cook them in several different ways!

Since I was starving and I didn't want to lose much time cooking, I decided to make some aubergines baked like Pizzas ;)

Slurp!

What you need:

Aubergines;
Tomato sauce;
Mozzarella cheese;
Oregan, Olive oil and salt.

You simply cut the aubergines in rounds, place them in a tray with olive oil. Then add the tomato sauce and oregan as you would do it on a Pizza.

Finish everything with mozzarella cheese and salt (I didn't have Mozzarella so I used  Scamorza - a yummy Italian cheese).

I've baked everything for 25/30 minutes at 180C/356F.

They were delicious!!!! This can be a nice idea for a dinner with friends and you don't have to spend hours in the kitchen ;)

I like these fast and delicious supper ideas!! What about you? What's your ace in the hole?;)

Until next time,
Daniela
